Genshin Impact Natlan Achievement Guide: Retrieve the Scattered Colors
Genshin Impact's Natlan Spiritwall Cave hides the Retrieve the Scattered, Escaping Colors achievement: find seven Monetoo and claim rare chests.
If you’re a Genshin Impact player who lives for chasing down every last hidden achievement and chest, Natlan’s got a secret task that’ll test your exploration skills and reward you with some serious loot: the Retrieve the Scattered, Escaping Colors achievement. This 2026 update staple is tucked away in the mysterious Spiritwall Cave, and it’s not just a quick run—you’ll need to master Natlan’s unique mechanics, hunt down seven tiny Monetoo, and unlock a pile of rare chests along the way. Let’s break it down step by step, so you don’t miss a single detail.
First off, let’s set the scene: the Spiritwall Cave is hidden beneath the Basin of Unnumbered Flames, a fiery, lava-drenched area in Natlan. Its entrance isn’t marked on your map, and it’s blocked by a tough enemy camp north of the Stadium of the Sacred Flame’s waterfall. To get inside, you’ll need to pull off a few specific moves:
-
Take out all the enemies guarding the camp—don’t skip this, or the entrance won’t budge.
-
Transform into a Tepetlisauri (one of Natlan’s core Saurian transformations, perfect for digging and breaking rock).
-
Drill into the ground near the camp, then use your Tepetlisauri skill to yank a buried mechanism out of the dirt.
-
Infuse that mechanism with Phlogiston (Natlan’s signature energy source) to unlock the cave entrance.
Once you’re inside, you’ll need to use your Tepetlisauri again to break through layers of rock blocking the path deeper in. Head all the way down, and you’ll hit a minefield of Unstable Phlogiston Crystals—touch one, and you’ll pass out, but don’t panic! You’ll wake up in a strange, hidden space inside the cave, right where your first Monetoo is waiting.

Now, let’s talk about the Monetoo: these tiny, glowing creatures are the key to the achievement. You need to find all seven and guide them back to the cave’s central graffiti wall. The first one is easy—you’ll spot it right in the room you wake up in. Before you follow it to the graffiti wall, though, make a quick detour to the room’s northern corner to grab a free Precious chest. It’s easy to miss, so don’t sleep on that loot!
Once you’ve got the first Monetoo and the chest, follow the Monetoo to the graffiti wall. The wall will light up and show you the locations of the remaining six Monetoo—time to go hunting.
The next three Monetoo are through the eastern door from the graffiti wall. When you get there, you’ll see three Pyro Seelies surrounded by Hydro Slimes. Take out the slimes, then talk to the Seelies and say, “It’s safe now!” to send them back to the graffiti wall. While you’re in this area, don’t forget to grab two more chests:
-
An Exquisite chest on top of a northeastern cliff: Transform back into Tepetlisauri, drill into the ground, climb the cliff, and beat the Geo Slimes guarding it.
-
A Precious chest behind a secret door: Head southwest from the cliff, infuse the Phlogiston behind a rock to unlock the door, and grab your loot.

The last three Monetoo are a bit trickier to reach. Keep your Tepetlisauri transformation, and use the Molten Fissure portal that spawned when you broke the rock layers earlier. The portal will drop you right at the fifth Monetoo’s location. Follow it, and use your Tepetlisauri skill to clear any Unstable Phlogiston mines along the way. When you reach the second Monetoo, ask it, “Are there other routes?” to unlock the path to the third. Follow all three, grab the Exquisite chest in this area, and say, “It’s safe now!” to send them back to the graffiti wall.
Once all seven Monetoo are accounted for, head back to the graffiti wall and ask the first Monetoo to restore the art. This is the big payoff: you’ll unlock the Retrieve the Scattered, Escaping Colors achievement, plus two more Precious chests and one Luxurious chest. That’s a whole lot of Primogems, Mora, and rare materials for your trouble!

If you’re a completionist, this achievement is a must-have for your Natlan collection. It’s a great test of how well you’ve mastered the region’s mechanics, and the loot is more than worth the effort. Just remember: take your time, don’t skip any chests, and keep your Tepetlisauri transformation handy—you’ll need it more than once. Happy exploring, Traveler!
