My First Look at Palworld's Summer 2024 Update - New Pals and Cherry Blossoms!
Discover the exciting summer update for Palworld featuring a new Japanese-inspired island and four unique Pals, promising immersive gameplay and stunning visuals.
Just caught the latest ID@Xbox Showcase, and OMG you guys, Pocket Pair is about to drop an insane summer update for Palworld! As someone who's been grinding this game since day one, I'm literally vibrating with excitement about what's coming our way in the next few months. 🎮✨
I can't believe it's already been several weeks since we got Bellanoir (that terrifying Dark-type raid boss that had everyone scrambling to build Summoning Altars). Remember how we all went crazy trying to figure out how to beat her? Some genius players figured out you could cheese the fight with a base full of Jetragons, but honestly, where's the fun in that? I prefer the challenge!
But enough about old news - let's talk about what's COMING! The trailer that dropped during the showcase has me completely hyped. We're getting a WHOLE NEW ISLAND to explore! And from what I can see, it's giving major Japanese vibes with gorgeous cherry blossom trees everywhere.
The Four New Pals That Have Me Losing Sleep
The trailer showed off four completely new Pals that I'm already planning to add to my collection (sorry, current base Pals, some of you might be getting replaced 💀):
-
Toad Sensei (not the official name, just what I'm calling it) - This little dude is giving major martial arts vibes with its gi and stick. I'm betting it's going to have some killer combat abilities! Maybe a Water/Fighting type? Just speculating here.
-
Ostrich Runner - This one reminds me so much of Espartha from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that I did a double-take! It seems super fast and agile - I'm thinking it might be perfect for transportation around the new map. My poor Nitewing might get jealous...
-
Floating Meditation Dog - This one is straight-up WEIRD but in the best way possible. It's just floating there, all zen-like with those long black ear-hair things. Giving major mystical vibes. Maybe it'll have psychic abilities? A Pal that can predict enemy attacks would be sooooo useful for my playstyle.
-
Mushroom Longneck - Last but definitely not least, this funky fungus with the giraffe neck looks absolutely adorable! I wonder if it'll have poison abilities or maybe even healing powers? Mushroom Pals always seem to have the most interesting work abilities too.
Eastern-Inspired New Island
The trailer ended with this gorgeous Eastern shrine that looks like something straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. It seems pretty obvious that Pocket Pair is drawing inspiration from their Japanese roots for this new area. I'm already imagining the soundtrack that'll play while exploring - probably something with traditional instruments that'll make the whole experience feel super immersive.
I wonder if this new island will have unique resources too? Maybe special building materials for Japanese-style base components? A girl can dream! 🏯
What This Means For My Gameplay
With this summer update and the PVP Arena that's supposed to drop sometime this year too, 2025 is shaping up to be THE year for Palworld. I've already told my friends I'm going to be MIA for at least a week when this drops. Sorry not sorry!
I'm especially curious about how these new Pals will fit into the breeding meta. Will they have unique partner skills? Could they potentially create even more powerful combinations than what we currently have? The possibilities are making my brain hurt (in a good way).
When Can We Get Our Hands On It?
The frustrating part is that Pocket Pair only said "Summer 2024" without giving us an exact date. Like, hello??? Some of us need to request days off work for this! 😩 Are we talking early June or late August? The suspense is killing me!
What are you most excited about from this upcoming update? The new Pals? The cherry blossom island? Or are you holding out for the PVP Arena? I keep going back and forth about which feature I'm most hyped for...
Sometimes I wonder if games like Palworld are becoming too much of my personality, but then I remember - when something brings you joy, why question it?
Maybe the real Palworld was the friends we made along the way? (Kidding, it's definitely the adorable murder-pets that help us build bases and fight our enemies.)
